Off-Road Night Runs

As with previous winter seasons it is hoped to continue with some off-road running on Tuesday evenings. From the beginning of October a schedule of winter training runs will begin and at least one evening will have an alternative option for a Head torch run. These runs are good fun and confidence building but we appreciate they are not for everyone. It would also be possible to start these runs from Cobham if members would like to explore further afield. Provisional suggestion for Cobham off-roading is 3rd Tuesday of the month and on the 1st Tuesday the off-road will be from Club. Usual start time 7.15 please. Other excursions would be possible if members are keen and have suitable footwear, reflective clothing and light(s). Thursday evenings are to continue as Speed work sessions and are geared to individual performance as opposed to the general RUN on a Tuesday.

The Boundary Run

This popular club social event is an approximately 31 mile circular route on predominantly off road terrain. Commencing at Nurstead Court the route is navigated by map and/or prior knowledge. Two groups of members managed to complete the entire route both clockwise and anti clockwise circuits and an equal number participated in shorter sections of the route in the form of a relay. Some members ran two sections either 'back to back' or at different times of day e.g. a morning run followed by a break and then an afternoon run. The route is broken down into four sections with 'average' length of section 8 mile.

It was possible to achieve good distance and time using a run/walk/run system if you are currently not up to 8 mile run distance. Advice will be given if required. It was also practical to do the entire route based on half marathon/ 15 mile run fitness. There is also a cycling alternative which can be all road for those unable to run.
